The new version USB enabled: reversible cable, compact and powerful future

While we talk regularly and for many years a possible adoption of a common charge in Europe, the future connector USB Type-C has just been presented.

Like the Apple Port Lighting, the new connector is compact and reversible, allowing to plug in any direction without having to retry every time manipulation as is the case with the current USB:

The announcement comes with USB 3.0 Promoter Group and has a 18-pin connector consisting of an equivalent to the micro-USB port 2 In addition to its finesse rather small (8.4mm x 2.6mm), the transfer rate should gain speed with a theoretical level of up to 10 Gbps through compatibility with USB 3.1. As for the charge level, it could provide up to 100 watts with a lifetime announced around 10 000 cycles.

If like what Apple offers with the introduction of the Lightning plug, Type-C is reversible however, it will not be backwards compatible with older versions. However, adapters will be proposed to continue using the existing micro USB 2.0 connectors.

The new standard is now official with a production that will be able to start.

The ball is now in the court computer manufacturers and smartphonse, but do not throw your current cable ... It will take months / years before it is equipped, as each evolution of such a standard. But one day, we should make available a Lightning / USB 3 cable with our iPhone and iPad, and Mac offering this jack.
