Step 2: Scroll down slightly until you see the "Music" menu item. Tap it.

Step 3: Select "Optimize Memory" in the music settings.

Apple mirror: developer shows concept for a mirror with iOS 10

On the Internet you can look at all sorts of interesting things and concepts of experienced developers. Of course, Apple products are particularly interesting for different design studies. However, these are often only limited to simple graphics and show rarely functional devices. The inventor Rafael Dymek has now developed an "Apple Mirror", which is already fully functional. We show you the mirror with iOS 10.

The mirror has been part of our everyday life for many years. No matter whether we take a look at a glance early, check out the hairstyle before leaving, or just watch out for a while before we go to sleep - the mirror is always there. Would not it be cool if you could still use the time before the mirror?

This thought must also have gone to the "New Yorker" designer Rafael Dymek, before he has made his latest project - the Apple Mirror - inconspicuous and with black frame he hangs at the designer home The cool concept - a mirror with iOS 10 or oriented itself the user interface and design strongly to Apple's mobile operating system.

The smart mirror displays the weather, the time and various app icons. The latter can be opened and easily positioned on the surface. For example, you can view a series on Netflix, call up Facebook, control home devices, create notes, over-order or play music. After 45 seconds of inactivity, the user interface turns off and can be activated again with a fingertip.

That's why you should not hold the iPhone 7 to the ear

The Apple iPhone 7 radiates significantly stronger than the previous model and also more than the competition. On an information page, Apple even points out that one should use the hands-free function to protect against radiation.

It of every new smartphone generation, the manufacturers try to improve the devices further. More memory, more processor power, higher resolution. Year after year the figures in the specifications climb upwards - but with a value one hopes exactly the opposite: with the mobile phone radiation.

But while Apple's new iPhones again and again as the "best iPhone ever", the radiation values seem to deteriorate from year to year - and in the iPhone 7, the apple company now even seeks to point to an info page and for A lower radiation exposure recommends the use of the hands-free option.

"To reduce the RF (high-frequency) noise, you can use a hands-free option, such as the built-in speaker," says the page. In addition, Apple recommends the iPhone 7 always with a distance of 5mm from the body wear.

The iPhone 7 has a higher SAR value than the competition

The reason for this recommendation is the increased SAR value compared to the previous models of the iPhone 7. SAR stands for specific absorption rate and expresses how much watts per kilogram of radiation affect the user when the mobile phone is held to the head during telephone calls and operates with the highest radio power.

For the current iPhone 7 this value is 1.384. This is still well below the limit of two watts per kilogram of body weight, but much more compared to the competition.
This is how the competition cuts

While the iPhone weighs 1.384 watts per kilogram to the user, the radiation of the competition is significantly lower - and also the direct predecessor, the iPhone 6s, stands with a SAR value of 0.87 better. In addition, the SAR value of the iPhone 7 is more than double that of the nine-year-old iPhones of the first generation.

IPhone 7: 1.384
IPhone 7 +: 1.238
IPhone 6s: 0.87
IPhone 1st generation: 0.62
Google Pixel: 0.33
Samsung Galaxy S7: 0.41
One Plus 3: 0.394
LG G5: 0.596

IOS 10: Thanks to Siri and FaceTime, unauthorized people will come to your photos

Apple's voice assistant Siri allows access to contacts and photos under iOS 10 despite blocking screen. COMPUTER BILD has tried it out and tells you how to protect yourself.

If you want to block your iPhone with a code lock against unauthorized access, should not weigh in too much security. The Apple video calling service FaceTime and Siri, the language assistant for iPhone and iPad, are responsible for this. COMPUTER PICTURE has tried and found that in certain circumstances, it is actually possible to access personal contacts and photos in the lock screen.

This is how the Siri trick works

To access the contacts and photos, the bug uses two different functions: FaceTime and Siri. The intruders need a second iPhone and the number of the Apple device to be hacked. Then call them with the Videotelefonie App FaceTime. Then the intruders enter the address book contacts with a few tricks via the iMessage message function and see all the stored photos.

How can I protect my Apple device?

In order to access contacts and photos from your iPhone, you must meet several requirements. The number of your mobile phone must be known and the FaceTime as well as Siri in the blocking screen must be activated. In the COMPUTER BILD test, an update to the latest iOS version helped: on an iPhone 6 with not yet updated iOS 10.0.2, COMPUTER BILD could actually crack the blocking screen with the trick and get access to all photos and contacts. In the current software version (iOS 10.1), however, the bug did not occur in the COMPUTER BILD test, as did the Beta-iOS version 10.2 (Beta 3). However, contradictory reports are circulated. As a YouTube video demonstrates, the vulnerability seems to exist under certain circumstances even under the current beta version of iOS 10.2. If you want to make sure, you should disable Siri in the lock screen.

Not the first time

However, it is not the first time that Siri has made a dash to the security needs of its users. Already in previous iOS versions, it was possible with the language assistant for strangers to get access to private areas of the iPhones. So it was already at the start of iOS 5 it possible to open the address book or to display unread e-mails or SMS, as well as send messages and (pay) calls. Apple also had to improve on iOS 7, as well as on iOS 8.

iPhone 7 - a tough test

Samsung and Apple dominate the smartphone market. But the prelude has shaken. While Samsung has struggled with exploding batteries in Note 7 with image problems, the two iPhone 7 models are quite unspectacular.

Nevertheless, the iPhone 7 Plus in this test with the overall score 2.1 best off. This is due not least to the very good handling, which most affected the test section with a weighting of 20 per cent. Commissioning, menu guidance, display, keyboard and operation functioned as well as with any other test candidate.

Surfing the Internet, writing and reading e-mails as well as interacting with the PC - for backups, for example - evaluated the testers with "very good" (weighting: 15 percent) on both iPhones. Our editorial department is less enthusiastic about the iTunes backup function for Windows.

iPhone 7: Camera and battery

The double camera of the iPhone 7 Plus cut in the test minimally better than the conventional optics in the iPhone 7. Why this is so, the test unfortunately does not explain. Both cameras make good and fast photos with normal or weak lighting. However, the portrait function of the iPhone-7 camera at the time of the test was not yet unlocked. It is possible that the iPhone 7 Plus now has a better camera score (weighting: 15 percent).

The batteries of the Apple smartphones were not quite good. The fixed battery of the iPhone 7 Plus only achieved a "sufficient" (3.6). The smaller iPhone 7 even collected a 3.8. Most other smartphones in the test performed similarly badly - with two exceptions. The batteries of the Huawei P9 Plus and the Gigaset ME Pro received the "good" rating of 2.3 as the only one.

Huawei and Gigaset last longer

Both smartphones are much cheaper than the iPhones. The Huawei P9 Plus with an average price of 685 euros costs about 200 euros less than the cheapest version of the iPhone 7 Plus. The 5.5 inch display is similar to the iPhone 7 Plus. The camera of the Huawei P9 Plus, however, depends on good light conditions. Voice quality and network quality were only "satisfactory". But after all, Huawei Android smartphone pushed in the overall rating before the iPhone 7 to the second place.

The Gigaset ME Pro for an average of 430 euros landed on position 4 (total score: 2.3). The 5.5 inch Android smartphone has not only a strong battery, but is also very well processed, as we already noticed in our test of the little brother. However, the quality of the language also pleased people. The camera is fast, but only average good photos and below average videos.

The function is not yet fully developed and is still classified by Apple as beta.

Improved connections and security

Users of the Apple Watch can also hope for improved cooperation between iPhones and the watch. According to Apple, the update eliminates synchronization, display and connection problems between the devices. The Bluetooth connection of external hardware should now work better.

iOS 10.1 brings full Ethernet support

With the next major update of the operating system, iPhone and iPad users can configure Ethernet connections for the first time, as the iOS 10.1 beta shows.

IOS 10.1 finally completes the only rudimentary Ethernet support of the operating system: Users can first configure a wired network connection with the beta of the upcoming update. Just as in the WLAN settings can be set about IP address and DNS servers manually, as the developer Oliver Hartwich in a blog post demonstrates.

Apple seems to finally complete the Ethernet support introduced with the first pre-versions of iOS 10. An Ethernet menu appears as a separate entry in the settings as soon as such a connection exists. Whether the function in the final version of iOS 10.1 remains unchanged, remains for now however still open. IOS 10.1 is expected to appear later in the month, so far Apple has released three beta versions of the test.

IOS 9 already supported Ethernet connections, but a configuration was not possible - an automatic connection of the IP address was a prerequisite. To connect an ethernet cable to an iPad or iPhone, you need at least two adapters: First Apples still quite young, 45 euro expensive Lightning to USB 3 adapter as well as a USB to Ethernet cable, the third manufacturer - or Apple itself in an older version.

iPhone 7 detects broken home button

Apple has integrated an emergency function in iOS 10 if the electronic home button of the iPhone 7 or the iPhone 7 Plus breaks down. This allows the smartphone to continue to be used.

The iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus do not have a mechanical home button anymore, but a sensor surface and a vibration motor that simulates the haptic feel. If this button is defective, Apple has integrated a solution that not only checks, but also bridges the function.

If the home button is broken, iOS warns the user with a screen message as a user has determined. This warning is translated as follows: "The Home button may have to be repaired. In the meantime, you can use the Home screen button."

This is an icon, which Apple shows in the lower part of the screen of the touch screen. It takes over the function of the sensor surface until the repair, with the exception of the fingerprint scanner. Unlocking the user must unlock his smartphone with his lock code.

Even in previous iOS versions, there was an assistance function, which allowed the user to use a graphical alternative instead of the home button on the display. However, the function now discovered is not identical.

Apple introduced the electronic home button on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus to seal the device better against dust and water. In addition, the home button was one of the elements that often happened in the past. Should the electronic home button prove to be more resistant, future generations of the iPad will be equipped with it.
