iPhone 6S: 3D touch display used as a scale

The iPhone 6S can be used as mobile scales. The software developer Simon Goldman draws on the 3D touch screen of your smartphone. However there's a catch: The app is currently only available on a jailbreak iPhone usable.

With the iPhone 6S also smaller objects can now be weighed. This emerges from a video of the software developer Simon Goldman. The app "Plum-O-Meter" to use the 3D touch display and recognize how much push the objects on the screen. A handy display tells you how hard, for example, a plum. The app is still in a very early stage and may show no information on actual weight, but only reflect comparative values in percent.

According to developers, it works only with objects that have a minimum weight on the scales - so grapes are, for example, too easily, so that the smartphone could detect a change in the display. Another hook there are also: Plum-O-Meter is currently only works on an iPhone with Jailbreak 6S. Whether the software is suitable for the normal App Store, we can not say at the present time, unfortunately. A video shows the detailed operation. OS X El Capitan in the test: Better Performance for the Mac

Once Apple has extensively modernized with OS X Yosemite 2014, the OS X El Capitan followed by the fine-tuning design and user interface of its Mac operating system this year. Apps have been optimized, some loose screws were tightened and added some new features carefully.

Also Read: The Most Common OS X El Capitan Problems and Solutions >

Particularly striking is the good performance of the new system in WebStandard test. Even on older devices leaves OS X El Capitan a meaner impression than its predecessor.
Again change the font

The design transition from OS X, begun last year, Apple has continued with the recent operating system on a smaller scale. Obvious change is here (again) a new system font. It is only with OS X Yosemite Apple has changed the font to the annoyance of many users on Helvetica Neue, in OS X El Capitan now comes San Francisco for use. This is a designed by Apple itself font that is already in use in watch OS and the recently released iOS 9.

Facelift for programs

Otherwise, Apple has barely bolted to the design and the user interface of OS X El Capitan. Everything looks largely like under OS X Yosemite. Only some programs that have not yet received a facelift last year, have been updated. First and foremost here is the disk utility mentioned that scored missed a significantly fresher and more modern touch and thereby seamless fit into the design of the operating system.

Better Performance

Another area where Apple has worked apparently, is the performance of the operating system. OS X El Capitan significantly better than its predecessor. We have tested the operating system on an older MacBook Pro 2011th So buttery smooth animations like OS X El Capitan had OS X Yosemite definitely not to offer - even though the MacBook is connected to an external 1080p monitor. Laying program window into the Dock, call Mission Control or switch between Spaces is possible largely without any lag.

Dashing System

Apple thus seems to have put a focus on the performance of the operating system in the development of OS X El Capitan. The company also promises on his website that even actions like apps launch, switch between apps and PDFs or mails open by a multiple run faster than they are with the predecessor. Subjectively, the system will this promise also accessible - OS X El Capitan feels snappier to blow some.

Metal for OS X

Another performance improvement concerns the graphical interface Metal, the first from Apple with OS X El Capitan on the Mac. Metal was introduced last year with iOS 8 and to reduce the overhead compared to interfaces such as OpenGL and OpenCL, which the developers are more performance available. This powerful graphics made possible especially in games but also professional software, which relies on high-performance GPU, benefits from Metal.

Developers are asked

Metal is not supported by all devices that run under OS X El Capitan. As a rule of thumb, at least one Mac from the model 2012 or newer is required. In addition, developers must implement the new graphic interface only in their software. And in this area were criticized last. Dan Ginsburg from game developer Valve ("Half-Life") explained that there was no reason to rely on proprietary graphic interfaces such as DirectX 12 or Metal.

Split View

In addition to the improvements already mentioned OS X El Capitan has learned a few new features this fall compared to last year introduced changes but quite manageable from. Biggest change is probably here the Split View mode is in the two programs share the entire screen. While under Windows for many years is one such function of the standard repertoire, one previously had for recourse to third-party tools on OS X.

No intuitive operation

Solved really ideal, the new function is not. While you have to just drag a program window to the edge under Windows to dock it on one half of the screen, the function under OS X is far less intuitive. Because the use of split view you have to hold down the button and drag the window to a half of the screen in the window control (traffic light colors). Alternatively, you can open Mission Control and drag an application window to another full-screen app.

How to Make Enough Room for iOS 9 Update

Apple has reduced the package size of iOS 9 to 1.3GB, which is a good news for most iDevice users compared to the 4.58GB of iOS 8 package. However, it still can be a tough task to download iOS 9 for those 8GB or 16 GB iDevice users. This article will tell you how to safely make more room for iOS 9 update.

Part 1. Delete the Unwanted/Unused Apps

Deleting apps from iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is the quickest way to free up space on iDevices.

Firstly, go to Settings > General > Usage and then select the option of Manage Storage. Here you will see how much space is taken by particular app. Choose the app you want to delete, and tap its name, then tap the "Delete App" button on the next screen.

Or you can: Tap and hold the app icon and waiting for it to wiggle. Then tap the "X" that appears in the upper right corner.

Part 2. Disable Photo Stream

The Photo Stream automatically syncs up to 1,000 photos across your iOS devices. Sometimes, we may don’t want to see all photos on our iPhone appear in our iPad camera roll. So stop using Photo Stream unless you need to share your photos across all your iDevices all the time.

Go to Settings > Photos & Camera and deselect My Photo Stream. You should know this will delete all photos from your iPhone Photo Stream Album.

Part 3. Backup Photos/Videos/Songs and Delete Them from iDevices

Besides apps, photos, videos, and songs often take most part of our iOS storage space. It’s not surprising that you have at least 1 GB of photos on your iPhone, which can be a great deal to a 8 GB iPhone 5C. You will not need to always keep those media files on iDevices, just backup them to your home compute, and remove them from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

To back up photos, videos, music on computer in a viewable and playable format, you can try AnyTrans, an ALL Around iOS data manager that allows you to transfer almost all media files, personal info, and app from iDevice to computer including images, movies, songs, ringtones, voice memos, audiobooks, messages, notes, contacts, books, apps, etc.

Part 4. Clean Your Messaging Apps

Messages including text messages and iMessage messages can eat up a large part of your iPhone storage space. iMessage service allows users to send plain texts, and kinds of attachments like documents, photos, videos, which can waste a lot of space on iPhone. Check your Messaging app, and you will find there are a bunch of old conversations that you don’t need anymore. So just remove these messages to free up space for your iOS 9 update.

iOS 9 Pros & Cons: Should You Update to iOS 9 or Stick with iOS 8

As expected, Apple has unveiled iOS at its annual developer conference WWDC. The new version of the mobile operating system is focused primarily on improving battery life and smart assistant Siri. If you have not decided whether you should update your iPhone, iPad to iOS 9, read this article to make a decision.

Part 1. Should You Update to iOS 9: Pros

Proactive voice assistant

Apple expands iOS nine with the functionality of its smart voice assistant Siri and Spotlight search considerably. These are so proactive, similar to Google Knows card program. This was partly done through a summary page where app suggesties and the most important news is visible.

Spotlight can search third-party apps and users directly here to send when they tap a link. Furthermore, Siri has to respond smarter to natural sentences in which reference words are used.

Because of this it is enough to ask Siri to make a memory of "this" as for example open a web page. The wizard leads itself off it to the information that is contained in that page. Siri in iOS 9 gives further suggestions for apps and can also automatically agreements that arrive via e-mail into Apple's own balding Rapp.

Multitasking on iPad

As expected, iOS 9 brings improved multitasking on iPad. Users could already easily switch between running apps, but in the new version they can operate simultaneously in two apps.

This can swipe left another app at the right of the screen, e.g. the Messages to respond quickly to a text message. Through the right is also a list of other running app to call. For video use is made of so-called picture-in-picture. The movie being played will then be placed in a small corner of the screen and continue playing.

This functionality works on newer iPads, from the iPad Air and iPad Mini 2. The iPad Air 2 also offers the ability to keep the apps actually both active, the screen as it were, is split into two. Both apps offer using the same touch functionality.

iOS 9 also provides additional key features for the iPad. Pressing two fingers on the screen, a kind trackpad functionality of laptops is imitated. This should make it easier to copy and paste entire chunks of text, such as e-mails.

Better performance

Apple stressed that iOS nine runs more efficiently than predecessor iOS 8. That should translate them in active use an iPhone in an extra hour battery life. In addition, the new version also introduces a special power saving, using some features are turned off to save the battery. This would again have to provide three hours of additional battery life.

In line with earlier rumours Apple is iOS nine also in efficiency in terms of storage space. iOS nine takes significantly less space than iOS 8. The file size of the update is of 4.6 gigabytes reduced to 1.3 GB.

iOS namely 9 is also available for older iOS devices. The operating system requirements are unchanged, so even iPhone 4S and iPad 2 users can download the update when it is released.

Apple Music

After persistent rumours after the presentation of iOS nine still time reserved for Apple's answer to streaming services like Spotify Apple Music. The app combines streaming music with a social network called Apple Music Connect and a live radio station.

Music artists get their own page, where they are able to provide updates on the status of their new album. Users can then respond to the page, similar to how it works, for example, Facebook.

In addition, the app recommends certain music on the basis of suggestions from artists. Apple promises that this functionality does not only consist of an algorithm. Apple Music also offers a kind of Internet radio, Beats 1. The live radio is continuously managed by real people. Beats via one 24-hour a day radio from three different studios in New York, Los Angeles and London.

Apple Music as expected costs $ 9.99 a month, but the first three months free. The service will be launched June 30.

Renewed apps

Apple Updates iOS ninth with a number of its own apps, including Maps and apple pay. Maps will have a separate display of public transport routes which can be scheduled through multiple means of transportation. Also, a survey of eating and shopping opportunities near the location where users are located.

With iOS 9 also introduced a new app, Apple News. The app is best to compare with the app Flipboard, which transforms an RSS feed of various newspapers and websites to a kind of digital magazine.

Apple also announced that the payment service apple pay from July is also available in the UK. Also, the Passbook app, which various maps and tickets can be saved, renamed Wallet.

Finally, it should switch from Android to iOS easier through nine, thanks to a separate app called Move to iOS. Allows wireless contacts, messages, photos, mail settings, and even apps on Google's operating system will be transferred to it from Apple.

Part 2. Should You Update to iOS 9: Cons

Slow Speed on Old iDevice: Based on the update experience of iOS 8, iOS 9 can be very slow on your old iPhone 4s or iPad 2. If you are working on an old iPhone or iPad, you may not want to take a risk.

No Major Changes in Visual Design: If you are expecting to get a span-new visual enjoyment on iOS 9, you might be disappointed because iOS 9 looks very much like iOS 8 on the whole.

Downgrading Isn't Fun: You should bear in mind that it's always not an easy task to downgrade to the previous version after updating to iOS 9.

Lose Your iOS 8 Jailbreak: If you have jailbroken your iPhone, once you installed the latest iOS 9, you are going to lose your iOS 8 jailbreak.

Conclusion:

iOS 9 will be officially released in September, when Apple presents its new iPhones. It is worth to have a try on the new update, but for old iDevices owner, it’s all up to you.

2. Search bar in the Settings: This is a standard function under OS X for many years, now we get this useful function even with iOS 9 on the iPhone and iPad.

3. Keyboard with uppercase and lowercase letters: A madness! Immediately is directly apparent if we type uppercase or lowercase. So far only shown on the keyboard upper case, what could ever lead to confusion and typos. But the trick is yet. Who does not want to get used to the new presentation of lowercase letters in the keyboard, which can turn off these features: "Settings" -> "General" -> "Accessibility"> "Keyboard".

4. Safari Will Be Able to Block Ads. According to Ricky Mondello, who is an Apple engineer, says, the new iOS 9 will allow developers to build extensions to prevent ads and screen-filling pop-ups. Absolutely, you need to install an ad-block extension on your iDevice firstly.
