The New iOS 11, The New Features

On June 5, 2017, iOS was officially introduced by Apple CEO Tim Cook, at WWDC. So as the next generation of iOS, what are its differences on earth from previous versions? And what new? It is what we are taking about in this post.
The Control Center - it is customizable and there are options to include a wider range of settings. It's no longer split across multiple screens, and 3D Touch integration has expanded, so you can do more without needing to open the Settings app.

The Lock screen - it's been merged with Notification Center. Swiping down on the screen to access notifications now brings up the Lock screen. Today view continues to be available with a side swipe, and everything generally looks the same - there's just no separate Notification Center anymore.

Siri - it has a more natural voice and is more intelligent than ever. Siri learns user preferences and syncs that information across multiple devices, allowing the personal assistant to learn more about you and anticipate what you want. Siri can also translate English into different languages like Spanish and Chinese, and there's deeper Siri integration with Apple Music.

For the iPad - Apple has introduced a host of new features that make it more capable than ever before. A persistent Dock at the bottom of the display a makes it easy to launch and switch between apps, and there's a new App Switcher that's similar to Mission Control on the Mac, letting you see everything you're working on at a glance. For iPad Pro owners, the Apple Pencil does more, and several apps, like Mail and Notes, support inline drawing.

Drag and drop - you drag content like images and links from one app and drop it in another, and on both the iPad and the iPhone, there's a new Finder-style Files app for managing files. Files lists all files stored locally, in iCloud Drive, and in third-party cloud services like Dropbox and Google Drive.

New keyboard features - like a one-handed keyboard on the iPhone and a "Flick" option for typing numbers and symbols more quickly on the iPad, and many of the built-in apps have new functionality.

Notes features - searchable handwriting and document scanning.

Maps - lane guidance, speed limit info, and indoor maps for malls and airports.

Apple Music - includes options to see what your friends are listening to.

HomeKit - supports speakers and there's a new AirPlay 2 protocol that includes multi-room functionality. Do Not Disturb has been expanded to encompass driving, muting notifications while a vehicle is in motion.

iMessage - improved with a new App Drawer that makes it easier to access Messages apps and stickers. Messages is also gaining support for a new person-to-person Apple Pay feature that lets you send money to friends and family right through an iMessage, and iMessages themselves are now stored in iCloud, sync across devices, and take up less storage space.

Photos and videos - take up less space through the adoption of new HEIF and HEVC formats.

The Memories feature in Photos - smarter than ever, and in the Camera app, Portrait Mode and Live Photos have been improved with new capabilities.

The App Store - completely revamped in iOS 11, and there are now two distinct sections for apps and games. There's also a new "Today" view that features new content on a daily basis to make it easier to discover fresh apps and games.

By the way, iOS 11 is now in Beta for developers. You can download it and upgrade to iOS 11 beta to experience these new features. Even though after downloading and upgrading it, you don't get used to it, or some bugs happen, you can also downgrade from iOS 11 to previous iOS 10.3.2/10.3.1.

Apple Decides iMovie, GarageBand, and iWork Apps for Mac and iOS Free

Apple quietly rolled out updated versions of its iWork, iMovie and GarageBand apps on Mac and iOS today, making them free for all customers on both platforms. Many customers already had free copies of these apps, as they came free with new Mac or iOS devices. The pricing change, however, removes the requirement to have bought new Apple hardware to get the apps for free. This expands the apps’ reach to anyone using Apple devices, even if they never bought new or are using older devices.

Both iMovie and GarageBand for iOS previously carried a $4.99 price for new customers using iOS devices not purchased in the last few years. Pages, Keynote, and Numbers for iOS each carried a $9.99 price for new customers on older hardware.

iMovie for Mac was listed for $14.99 and GarageBand for Mac sold for $4.99. Pages, Keynote, and Numbers for Mac each carried a $19.99 price for new customers on older hardware.

Apple has been offering these apps for free to new Mac and iOS device owners since 2013, but dropping the price to free for all users makes it less confusing and opens up downloads for those who have not recently made a new device purchase.

How to Enable Dark Mode Feature on iOS 10.3

iOS 10.3 includes a large number of new tricks, some well known, others not as much. One thing many users have wanted in iOS is a proper dark mode, which would change whites in the OS to blacks. And Dark Mode a tried and true standard for dedicated digital readers like Amazon’s Kindle.

Currently, the user interface of iOS is bright & brilliant and features high contrast whitish backgrounds in almost all of its stock apps (Safari, Mail, Messages, etc.)  These colorful backgrounds are often distracting, especially when used in dimly lit environments. The result of all this brightness is often eyestrain and visual fatigue.
Dark Mode inverts your iPhone or other iDevice font colors. Your standard iPhone Helvetica font changes to white instead of black. As a result, the white translucent layers are replaced with black translucent layers. Dark Mode turns your Mac’s, Apple TV’s, and iDevice’s look and feel and creates easy nighttime viewing.
Most importantly, dark mode offers breathing space and a reprieve for your eyes in low light environments, like restaurants, pubs, and even museums–places where you might find yourself squinting to read.  Consequently, dark mode reduces eyestrain and for those of us with aging eyesight, that’s a significant benefit.  Plus, we think dark mode looks pretty darn cool too.
How to Enable Dark Mode Feature on iDevice

Step 1. Load any article in Safari (if you’re reading this Safari on an iPhone or iPad, you’re good to go).
Step 2. Tap the reader mode icon in the left corner of the URL bar.
Step 3. Tap the “aA” icon in the right corner of the URL bar.
Step 4. Tap the black circle all the way to the right in the top row of the drop down menu.

In-line pictures will still display normally, but the rest of the page will be dark, as pictured above. It’s not the system-wide dark mode we’ve all been waiting for, but people spend a tremendous amount of time reading in Safari, so this should be a big improvement at night.

Apple mirror: developer shows concept for a mirror with iOS 10

On the Internet you can look at all sorts of interesting things and concepts of experienced developers. Of course, Apple products are particularly interesting for different design studies. However, these are often only limited to simple graphics and show rarely functional devices. The inventor Rafael Dymek has now developed an "Apple Mirror", which is already fully functional. We show you the mirror with iOS 10.

The mirror has been part of our everyday life for many years. No matter whether we take a look at a glance early, check out the hairstyle before leaving, or just watch out for a while before we go to sleep - the mirror is always there. Would not it be cool if you could still use the time before the mirror?

This thought must also have gone to the "New Yorker" designer Rafael Dymek, before he has made his latest project - the Apple Mirror - inconspicuous and with black frame he hangs at the designer home The cool concept - a mirror with iOS 10 or oriented itself the user interface and design strongly to Apple's mobile operating system.

The smart mirror displays the weather, the time and various app icons. The latter can be opened and easily positioned on the surface. For example, you can view a series on Netflix, call up Facebook, control home devices, create notes, over-order or play music. After 45 seconds of inactivity, the user interface turns off and can be activated again with a fingertip.

That's why you should not hold the iPhone 7 to the ear

The Apple iPhone 7 radiates significantly stronger than the previous model and also more than the competition. On an information page, Apple even points out that one should use the hands-free function to protect against radiation.

It of every new smartphone generation, the manufacturers try to improve the devices further. More memory, more processor power, higher resolution. Year after year the figures in the specifications climb upwards - but with a value one hopes exactly the opposite: with the mobile phone radiation.

But while Apple's new iPhones again and again as the "best iPhone ever", the radiation values seem to deteriorate from year to year - and in the iPhone 7, the apple company now even seeks to point to an info page and for A lower radiation exposure recommends the use of the hands-free option.

"To reduce the RF (high-frequency) noise, you can use a hands-free option, such as the built-in speaker," says the page. In addition, Apple recommends the iPhone 7 always with a distance of 5mm from the body wear.

The iPhone 7 has a higher SAR value than the competition

The reason for this recommendation is the increased SAR value compared to the previous models of the iPhone 7. SAR stands for specific absorption rate and expresses how much watts per kilogram of radiation affect the user when the mobile phone is held to the head during telephone calls and operates with the highest radio power.

For the current iPhone 7 this value is 1.384. This is still well below the limit of two watts per kilogram of body weight, but much more compared to the competition.
This is how the competition cuts

While the iPhone weighs 1.384 watts per kilogram to the user, the radiation of the competition is significantly lower - and also the direct predecessor, the iPhone 6s, stands with a SAR value of 0.87 better. In addition, the SAR value of the iPhone 7 is more than double that of the nine-year-old iPhones of the first generation.

IPhone 7: 1.384
IPhone 7 +: 1.238
IPhone 6s: 0.87
IPhone 1st generation: 0.62
Google Pixel: 0.33
Samsung Galaxy S7: 0.41
One Plus 3: 0.394
LG G5: 0.596

IOS 10: Thanks to Siri and FaceTime, unauthorized people will come to your photos

Apple's voice assistant Siri allows access to contacts and photos under iOS 10 despite blocking screen. COMPUTER BILD has tried it out and tells you how to protect yourself.

If you want to block your iPhone with a code lock against unauthorized access, should not weigh in too much security. The Apple video calling service FaceTime and Siri, the language assistant for iPhone and iPad, are responsible for this. COMPUTER PICTURE has tried and found that in certain circumstances, it is actually possible to access personal contacts and photos in the lock screen.

This is how the Siri trick works

To access the contacts and photos, the bug uses two different functions: FaceTime and Siri. The intruders need a second iPhone and the number of the Apple device to be hacked. Then call them with the Videotelefonie App FaceTime. Then the intruders enter the address book contacts with a few tricks via the iMessage message function and see all the stored photos.

How can I protect my Apple device?

In order to access contacts and photos from your iPhone, you must meet several requirements. The number of your mobile phone must be known and the FaceTime as well as Siri in the blocking screen must be activated. In the COMPUTER BILD test, an update to the latest iOS version helped: on an iPhone 6 with not yet updated iOS 10.0.2, COMPUTER BILD could actually crack the blocking screen with the trick and get access to all photos and contacts. In the current software version (iOS 10.1), however, the bug did not occur in the COMPUTER BILD test, as did the Beta-iOS version 10.2 (Beta 3). However, contradictory reports are circulated. As a YouTube video demonstrates, the vulnerability seems to exist under certain circumstances even under the current beta version of iOS 10.2. If you want to make sure, you should disable Siri in the lock screen.

Not the first time

However, it is not the first time that Siri has made a dash to the security needs of its users. Already in previous iOS versions, it was possible with the language assistant for strangers to get access to private areas of the iPhones. So it was already at the start of iOS 5 it possible to open the address book or to display unread e-mails or SMS, as well as send messages and (pay) calls. Apple also had to improve on iOS 7, as well as on iOS 8.
