Comparison: Samsung Galaxy S7 vs. iPhone 6s

The flagship Galaxy S7 is here! Time to compare it with the eternal rivals iPhone (6s) - just so we can say whether Samsung is rightly at the top smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy S7 vs. Apple iPhone 6s: Conclusion

Yes, we compare in this case apples with pears or an iOS smartphone with an Android phone, which are completely different. Yet is interesting to note that an iPhone 6s achieved with clearly weaker engine a slightly better result in the benchmark test - the reason: Apple designs software and hardware from the same company and are matched almost perfectly. In contrast, Samsung installed something better and especially higher-resolution display. There is also a memory expansion and a waterproof housing. The camera quality is both devices at a similarly high level - both among the best cams in the smartphone market.

Also interesting is the price: Samsung provides its current flagship with 700 euros 50 euros cheaper than at Apple his older iPhone 6s with half as large memory.

Design and Display: S7 is waterproof

The iPhone 6s is actually a nice and handy Smartphone aluminum. In contrast, the Galaxy S7 is constructed of glass and aluminum and so does not just quality, it is also very comfortable to hold. The new S7 is about as large as the iPhone 6s, but the display of 5.1 compared to 4.7 inches is significantly greater - so the Samsung phone has a better display-to-case ratio. In addition, the resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels compared with 1334 x 750 pixels is much higher. The iPhone 6s, however, is equipped with a pressure-sensitive display (3D touch), which allows a new way of operating. In practice, however, both screens are similar sharp. However, already noticeable with the naked eye that the S7 a bit thicker, there are exactly 0.8 millimeters. Nevertheless, it is still thin with a total of 7.9 millimeters.

Both smartphones are each a unibody case, you can not simply replace the battery. On the respective USB port, and SIM slot we will discuss in the next section.

Compared to the iPhone 6s, the S7 is certified to IP68 standard and therefore waterproof and dustproof but also weighs approximately 10 grams more.

Memory expandable at S7
Apple built into the iPhone 6s own Lightning port - the advantage is that you can not upside plug the USB cable, there is no up and down. The downside: Only Apple uses this port.
Most androids put on microUSB for years. Lately on USB Type-C, which not only allows faster loading, but can also be inserted bilaterally. Nevertheless, Samsung built a classic micro-USB port. The public opinion: "Type-C is not as widespread, with microUSB one could use all accessories and cables from various suppliers." In fact, it is so that suppliers could not guarantee the numbers of USB Type-C cables called Samsung as we could find out by talking to the MWC.
Although the iPhone 6s offers 3 memory sizes (16, 64 and 128 GB), but no memory expansion. The Galaxy S7 contrast only comes with 32GB of internal storage, can it also be increased via Micro SD card.

Performance: Octa-Core vs. Dual-Core
As engine each one developed in-house CPU used. So the Galaxy S7 iPhone 6s works with the Exynos 8890 with 8 cores, with the Apple A9 with only 2 cores. but does not mean that the iPhone performs worse. Apple keeps aware of the performance standards low so that developers of applications and games program efficient apps always run smoothly. So also the memory with 2 GB to 4 GB in S7 is smaller.
In Antutu benchmark, not seen in the video, because we could run this later, scored the iPhone 6s with 132 419 points around 5 points more than the Galaxy S7. Both smartphones are therefore extremely powerful and lead the rankings.

Camera: 12MP both devices
Samsung lowers the camera resolution from 16 to 12 megapixels - like the iPhone 6s. Fewer pixels or diodes on an equal image sensor mean that the individual pixels are larger and contain more image information, which ultimately affects the quality! The pixel size is growing, according to Samsung the way of 1,2μm to 1,4μm on. In addition, the Koreans put down on an f / 1.7 aperture, which is intended to capture up to 56 percent more light than the f / 1.9 aperture opening in the Galaxy S6.
The photo quality both smartphone cameras is very similar - and above all very good! Apple has been using the iPhone 6 a phase comparison autofocus, which works smooth and fast especially. Thanks to "Dual Pixel" and the Galaxy S7 has a new autofocus, which uses the entire layer of the sensor for the focus - the result is similar!
