Apple iPhone 6 brings fantastic Christmas sales

iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were a hit for Apple. Nearly 75 million sold smartphones and $ 18 billion profit - the Group achieved a Christmas quarter of superlatives.

The latest-generation iPhone with bigger screens Apple has brought record numbers during the Christmas season. Revenue in the three months to December 27, 2014 increased 30 percent to unprecedented 74.6 billion US dollars. The net profit even soared by 38 per cent upward, reaching a record high of 18 billion dollars. For Apple, it was the first quarter of the financial year 2015th.

The company sold 74.5 million in the three months iPhones - by 51 million in the same period of the previous year. The high expectations of Wall Street in Apple were thus exceeded. In after-hours trading, the Apple share appreciated by about six percent. This missing on the all-time high (closing price in regular trading) of $ 119 per share, which was marked on 26 November 2014, only three percent.

The iPhone is the most important Apple product. This segment now represents about two thirds of the revenue. For a long time Apple had locked against the trend toward large cell phone screens. Now, the two met models of the iPhone 6 with significantly larger displays than before on a huge pent-up demand. Apple have so many iPhones sold as one could produce, CEO Tim Cook told the TV channel CNBC.

The iPad tablet, however, was weak even at Christmas. Sales fell 18 percent to 21.42 million units. Sales of the iPad division fell by 22 percent. The tablet market experienced after an initially steep growth a damper. Cook said before, he still believe in the product category.

Macintosh computers are selling well, however. The computer division is 14 percent more units sold (5.2 million units) and nine percent more sales well there. Because the PC market is shrinking, which means a larger market share for Apple.
